Interviewer:
I see a lot of people around. You think guys are ready for summer yet?
Jeff Redmond:
Yes, spring is upon us, we’re here at the Bucars 58th annual open house. We’ve got three seminars going on today.
We did: Boondocking, dinghy towing, how to tow a car behind a motorhome, and then this afternoon is going to be spring maintenance.
Interviewer:
Boondocking is legal?
Jeff Redmond:
Yes, boondocking is camping without being plugged in. It’s going out to the fields, going in by the river, the stream and how do you maintain your batteries, how do you conserve power, how do you deal with your water issues and things like that when you’re not in a full-service campground.
JC McLoed:
The attendance is just blowing my mind it’s been a great day. We’ve got so many trailers on-lot. I mean, heck, we had another 40 come in this week alone. Our parts department is just packed with people we’ve got so many sales on. I love this time of year. it’s been slow all winter and we’re going again.
Interviewer:
What are people mostly interested in? You finding the travel trailers, motorhomes, what’s the fashion this year?
Craig Holmes:
We have a good mix here. We’re known as a premium RV dealer for Tiffin and Newmark.
Customer:
I like when I come back every year when they do their open house and enjoy the hot dogs and just relax. It’s kind of an outing for us to kind of get our head back in the game for RV’ing.
Customer:
That’s what we’re here for.
Interviewer:
This exactly, yeah.
Customer:
See what incentives are in place.
Interviewer:
I appreciate it, thanks.
Customer:
Best friend on the planet is the parts manager.
Interviewer:
I’m sure you’re going to find something nice.
Customers:
We just signed the papers. It’s done.
Interviewer:
It’s done!
Interviewer:
So what do you guys usually do when camping?
Customers:
I just hang around.
I go on hikes and play.
Customer:
It’s like anything else whether you have a motorhome or boat, everyone falls victim to“two-foot-itis”.
Interviewer:
What is that?
Customer:
Two feet larger, two feet larger.
Customer:
Started with 24, went to 27, now we’re at 30.
Customer:
Big, 40 something. Now we’re 43 feet.
Craig Holmes:
I have a little, well it’s not little. It’s a 27 foot that gets pulled out to the foothills.
Interviewer:
So you actually dropped the prices today?
Jeff Redmond:
Yeah. Yeah, for this weekend I wanted to celebrate our open house. It’s a once a year program and we got preferred financing in the finance office and customers are taking
advantage of that.
Interviewer:
And if somebody missed today is that all gone or is there another option?
Jeff Redmond:
We will always be working with our customers. We’ve got manufacturer days coming up where we reduce during those days. But this is our big kickoff for the spring selling season.
