JC Macleod:
Looking after a slide is more than just looking after the gears. We also need to look after the rubber that goes around the slide as well.
We only care about the slide seals that actually see the sun. We’ve got the sun beating on this, it’s going to dry out. We don’t want this seal to stay like this. It’s going to dry out, it’s going to stay out and not contact the wall.
We’re actually gonna use a product made to make sure the rubber stays supple. This here is a seal saver and all I do is spray it on your cloth and we’re just going to wipe it down the slide seal. What that’s going to do, it’s going to give us some UV protection and make sure that this stays supple for years to come. I always like to spray the rag instead of spraying it on here. Because if you do get it on your decals, it’s going to be really shiny and bright.
Make sure to do your whole slide and don’t forget your roof. You definitely want to do your roof unless you have a slide topper. If there’s a slide topper up there, don’t bother trying to get that seal, it’s already protected from the sun.
If you do this, you’re gonna make sure to have years of life out of these slide seals and not have any water penetration whatsoever.
