Day Trips
Day tripping with your RV makes exploring even more comfortable in the off-season. They give you the perfect spot to rest, warm up, and have lunch in comfort. Here are a few day trip destination suggestions:
Hit the trails by cross-country ski or snowshoe at Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. With a wide offering of trails, you’re sure to find one to enjoy as a family.
Take your Star Trek loving offspring (or partner) to visit the town of Vulcan. Only an hour from Calgary, it’s a fun a quirky place to visit, no matter your level of fandom.
Visit a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, were you can explore the beautiful landscape and learn about Plains Buffalo culture and the significance of the cliff to them.
Overnight Camping Trips
Enjoy quality family time and embrace the chilly nights by spending more time around the campfire. Here are a few of our favourite spots:
Just southeast of Edmonton, Miquelon Lake Provincial Park features several lakes and plenty of cold-weather activities. Loop A in the Miquelon Lake Campground is open for first come first serve camping during the off-season with power available at some sites.
13 km south of Brooks off Hwy. 873, find peaceful lakeside camping at Kinbrook Island Provincial Park. Explore the nearby wetlands on an interpretive marsh trail, and enjoy skating or ice fishing when it is cold enough.
Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is always a favourite for off-season camping. Year-round activities will keep everyone busy, and as one of the largest and darkest dark-sky preserves, stargazing is a must.
