Need a place to RV during the Calgary Stampede? The team at Bucars RV came up with these suggestions:
Calgary West RV Park (www.calgarycampground.com/) is inside the city limits on the west side of the city, near Stoney Trail and Hwy 1 (Trans-Canada Hwy). They operate a shuttle service to & from the Stampede grounds.
Calaway Park campground (www.calawaypark.com/aboutrv.html) about 15 minutes west of the city limits on the Trans-Canada Hwy (Hwy 1), next to the Calaway Park amusement park. They usually operate a shuttle to and from the Stampede grounds, but double-check with them about this service.
Whispering Spruce campground near Balzac, is just a few km north of the city limits on Hwy 2 and in the same area as the huge new CrossIron Mills shopping mall.
Mountain View Camping (http://www.calgarycamping.com), located on the Trans-Canada Hwy a few kms east of Calgary.
Nature’s Hideaway (http://www.naturesfamilycampground.com), 25 km SE of Calgary. Note that the $10 dump station fee applies to registered campers, not just those stopping to dump their sewage.
If those campgrounds don’t have any availability, look for campgrounds in nearby communities such as Cochrane, Bragg Creek, Okotoks, High River, Strathmore, and Water Valley.
