Camping is one of those things that you can enjoy two ways: (1) just you, your RV, and the open road or (2) with all the best gadgets, gizmos, and accessories on the market.
Either way, you’re sure to have a good camping experience, but sometimes the right RV accessories can help take your camping trip from good to great!
When it comes to RV accessories, there is an endless number of options available. It can be pretty tricky to figure out which camper accessories are worth the investment and which camper gadgets will just sit in your RV cabinets for years, taking up your precious storage space.
In this article, we’re breaking down our favourite camping gadgets. If you’re planning for a summer full of camping adventures, these are a few accessories that you should definitely consider adding to your collection.
P.S. We don’t make any commissions from links in this article. That’s how you know we just really like these products!
Practical Camping Gadgets
First up are the practical camping accessories. These accessories are the ones that will provide you with peace of mind during your camping trip and will help solve some of the most common problems that campers tend to face.
1. Lynx Levelers
Do you have a random wood plank collection that you use to level your RV or support your stabilizer jacks? This RV accessory was made for you!
Lynx Levelers are a game-changer for any levelling function, and they can also withstand a tremendous amount of weight. These interlocking plastic blocks can be built into a pyramid shape to raise your RV to the appropriate height. The blocks also act as a great support base for stabilizing equipment.
2. Cell Phone Signal Booster
Imagine this: you’re driving deep into the mountains, and you check your phone only to find that you have zero bars and no connection to the outside world. It can be a pretty scary feeling, especially for first-time campers!
If you’re headed to a relatively remote location this summer, you might want to invest in a cell phone signal booster. These help to boost cell tower signal when you find yourself in a spot with a weak signal. We’ve linked one for you here, but there are plenty of options available. Just make sure the signal booster you purchase is designed for use in vehicles.
3. Portable Inverter Generator
Summer camping means warm weather, which is great until you’re in +30 °C temperatures and desperately need to escape the heat. If you’re camping at an RV park with hookups, you can simply turn on your A/C for some nice cold air. But, if you’re in a more remote location, you might be out of luck. Unless… you have a trusty portable generator to save the day!
Aside from powering your air conditioner, a portable generator can also come in handy to charge all of your other accessories. What good are your gadgets if you can’t even use them!
4. Portable Gas Fire Pit
Campfires are arguably the best part of any good camping trip. When the night grows dark, you can sit around a warm campfire, roast marshmallows, and spend some quality time with your travel companions. However, it’s not uncommon to see fire bans in July and August due to the hot, dry weather. Instead of calling it a night and missing out on this great camping experience, you could pull out your new portable gas fire pit and keep the party going!
5. Portable Propane Grill
There’s nothing quite like cooking your favourite food on the grill. But did you know you can get that same great flavour when you’re camping? Portable propane grills are a great option for RVers because they can be easily stored in your RV storage compartments. We particularly recommend the Coleman RoadTrip™ LX Standup Grill because this grill has a collapsible stand design that makes it simple to store and easy to use on the go.
Gas fire pits don’t spark, so they don’t pose the same fire risks as wood-burning fires. Unless stated, you can use these fire pits even during a fire ban. If you hate the smell of smoke, you might even prefer a gas fire pit over your typical campfire!
Fun Camping Gadgets
Now that we’ve covered the more practical RV accessories, it’s time to dive into some more fun camping gadgets that are sure to keep you entertained and comfortable during your trip.
6. Rechargeable Portable Blender
If you like Pina Coladas (and getting caught in the rain), this is the accessory for you! Do you need blended drinks to enjoy a great camping trip? No. But we’re not talking camping essentials in this article!
Imagine a nice cold blended drink after a hot day in the sun. Doesn’t that sound refreshing? A blender might not be a camping staple, but it sure is a nice camping luxury.
7. Zero Gravity Chairs
Camping trips are made for relaxing. So, why not relax in the most comfortable camping chairs on the market. We’re impartial to zero gravity chairs because they allow you to sit upright by the campfire and lean back for a mid-day nap in the great outdoors.
8. Ice Cream Ball
If you’ve ever had to deal with bored kids during your camping trip, here’s a fun gadget to keep them entertained. With just a bit of ice, salt, cream, and sugar, you can make homemade ice cream at your campsite! Simply toss, roll, and throw the ice cream ball around your site and you’ll have a fresh batch of ice cream in around 25 minutes.
9. Hobo Pie Maker
Have you ever tried a hobo pie? If not, you’re missing out! Basically, a hobo pie is made from two slices of bread and your filling of choice. Fillings could include things like canned pie filling, Nutella and banana, peanut butter and jelly, and more! The combinations are endless.
The best part about a hobo pie is that you cook them over a campfire. Instead of the classic s’mores, try making some hobo pies for your next campfire snack.
