Back to school season is looming, so if you have plans for one last long weekend camping trip, take the chance to bond over something new. Try your hand at new activity, teach them an essential skill, make time to play, and create memories that will last until your next outing, with our suggestions below.
1. Teach them a new skill
Whether it’s a lesson on why leveling is so important, how to build the perfect campfire for marshmallow roasting, or basic wilderness survival skills, get your kids involved in the process and pass on your knowledge.
2. Share a campfire story

3. Cook a campsite feast together

4. Try a new outdoor sport

Many national parks across the country offer great geocaching opportunities. Like an interactive treasure hunt played with a GPS device or smartphone, it’s a great way to explore and learn about the unique natural and cultural heritage of the park you’re visiting.
