Description
AutoSock is a textile tire cover that increases traction on icy and snowy winter roads. It is similar to putting a fitted bed sheet onto your tire. Only this is a very specifically engineered “bed sheet” that is made out of really high strength fibers, which are woven together in a special pattern to grip the ice and snow.
AutoSock is more effective than winter tires and are also more effective than snow chains in certain situations. They have been tested and formally approved by several leading car manufactures, and TÜV SÜD in Germany. AutoSock can be mounted on summer tires and winter tires (with or without studs).
AutoSock has been used in Canada for over 5 years. The Ministry of Transportation in BC has tested and approved the product, as it is just as effective or more effective than winter tires and tire chains in most on-road situations.
*British Columbia has weight restrictions that allow AutoSock use up to 11,794 KG GVWR when chain lights are on. A vehicle over 11,794 KG would be required to use chains if the chain lights are illuminated, under the weight restrictions AutoSocks are accepted as equivalent to chains. If chain lights are not illuminated, AutoSocks may be used without any weight restrictions throughout B.C.
